I spent three days at SPTechCon in Boston, eating, drinking and dreaming about SharePoint and all the ways it can solve real business problems cheaper, better and faster. The reaction from attendees at SPTechCon once they saw our product was amazing. They are wowed by the fact that we can retrieve and view PDFs, TIFFs, JPEGs and even MS Word document so quickly through a web page without using some kind of Flash, Active X, or Java component in the browser or even without downloading the source document to the desktop. One attendee was so surprised she ran around the expo hall looking for colleagues and exclaiming, “You have got to see this!”

There are a few reasons that attendee reactions to our document viewer was so positive: Vizit SP is a Rich Internet Application that very quickly and efficiently processes documents on the server and presents them to a user. Nothing needs to be installed on the client system, which makes deployment a snap, and as the document is never downloaded from SharePoint the user doesn’t have to pay a penalty for viewing large documents. Vizit SP adds other features for marking up and commenting on the document, spot clean-up for image based documents (like TIFFs, image PDFs, JPGs, etc) and the ability to enter metadata into the SharePoint properties while having a full view of the document.
